I'm the sixth generation of my family to live in the same rural smalltown in Georgia.  So that makes my kids the seventh generation.  And I'm not just talking about the same region or the same state here, I'm talking about the town. Translation: We really need to get out more.

Where I come from, there are a few things that we take very seriously: sweet tea, SEC football, and country music.

Some of my earliest memories are of me sitting on my grandparents' living room floor and listening to country music greats like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Tammy Wynette.  When other 5-year-olds were asking Santa for dolls or bikes, I asked for a Dolly Parton wig and a microphone.  True story.

But hey, I'm not all country.  I'm a little bit rock 'n' roll, too.  You know, sometimes I listen to Rascal Flats or Taylor Swift.

My love for country music encouraged me to pursue professional songwriting for a few years. During that time, I had a few really cool experiences including landing a reality television show on CMT.

Have I ever told you about that reality show? No?  That's weird.  It's usually the first thing I brag about, because let's face it, nothing says "I'm cool" like "I was cast for a reality television show".  Ahem.
