Win a $50 gift certificate from OshKosh B'gosh

Certain brands stand the test of time, brands like OshKosh B'gosh. Since 1895, OshKosh B'gosh has been dressing kids in style while providing quality products at great prices for parents.

We've always been an OshKosh B'gosh family.

Think back to 1981. Ronald Reagan was inaugurated as President of the United States. We put a few dimes in the jukebox baby and listened to "I Love Rock 'n' Roll". Diff'rent Strokes was our favorite show. What you talkin' 'bout, Willis? And I was in the first grade. All I wanted for Christmas was my two front teeth and those OshKosh B'gosh overalls. Looks like I got lucky on both!

I've always bought OshKosh B'gosh for my kids too, because we you find something that works, you stick with it. Look at little Bailey in 2003 wearing her cute sundress.

Oh my b'gosh, isn't she adorable? I miss that little baby face.

OshKosh B'gosh is still as awesome as it was in 1895, 1981 and 2003. And that's why I've picked out these Easter outfits for Bailey and Drew this year. I can't wait to see them all dressed up and holding their Easter baskets! (Facebook photo coming soon.)

OshKosh B'gosh is ready to jump into spring with new baby and kids clothes just in time for Easter. New colored pants and baby and kid boys with mix and match woven button-front shirts are perfect for spring and even better for Easter dress-up. Get your baby or big girl ready to hunt for hidden eggs in floral sundresses matched with knit cardigans.

Sounds pretty good, huh?

It gets even better.

OshKosh B'gosh would like to give you a $50 gift certificate to buy some amazing Easter outfits for your kids.

Entering is as easy as 1-2-3.

Contest:

1. Go to the OshKosh B'gosh website and look through the new spring line. To make it quick and easy, I've listed the link HERE for you.

2. What is your favorite item from the Easter Preview collection? Leave a comment below with a link to your favorite OshKosh B'gosh Easter item(s).

3. One lucky reader will be randomly chosen to win a $50 gift certificate. Contest ends Monday, March 4, 2013.

Find the closest store to you HERE using their handy-dandy map feature. But don't worry, you can also use your gift certificate to order online and have the awesomeness delivered to your door. Now that's service.

Good luck!

OshKosh B’gosh partnered with bloggers such as me to help promote the Easter Preview.  As part of the program, I received product or gift cards.  OshKosh B’gosh believes that consumers and bloggers are free to form their own opinions and share them in their own words, and therefore did not tell me what to purchase or what to say about the products I used. OshKosh B’gosh policies align with WOMMA Ethics Code, FTC guidelines and social media engagement recommendations. The winner of any giveaway in this program will be randomly chosen and gift card fulfillment will be handled by a third party.

Win a $25 VISA gift card from Apartments.com

This post brought to you by apartments.com. All opinions are 100% mine.

They say the grass is greener where you water it.  But isn't it even greener where somebody else waters it?  Somebody, like, a professional?

Well, that's one of the many perks of apartment living!  No yard work, convenience, flexibly, price, luxury,  amenities, awesomeness. Apartments are a #perfectfit.

When I think back to some of my fondest memories, they involve apartment living.

I loved the convenience of living close to school or work - or even better - to shopping malls.  I also enjoyed being able to get exactly what I needed when I needed it, because the next year, if my needs changed, then my residence could change, too. Homeowners, try doing that in today's home market.

And there was always fun activities going on at the apartment complex like karaoke contests, 4th of July cookouts, bunco night, or listening to good music by the pool.  Whatever it was, you were guaranteed to meet nice people, who were also your neighbors.

If you want to experience all the wonderful parts about apartment living, then apartments.com is the place for you!

Apartments.com makes finding your next apartment home simple!

The easy-to-use website allows you to search by location, size and price.  Then you can quickly sort through your search results and narrow down your selection to exactly what you are looking for.

Browse through floorplans, photos, pricing, and community information quickly and easily.  You can even take a 360 degree virtual tour without leaving your computer.  And if you like what you see, check availability or contact the community right there from the website.

To make things even more convenient, use the apartments.com smartphone app while you're waiting at the doctor's office or trying to look busy at work.

Just for fun, I decided to search for an apartment on apartments.com. I really like the Dunwoody area of Atlanta, so I started there.  Not just because it's where all my favorite shopping and restaurants are, but well, yeah, that's why.

I typed in the zip code and quickly browsed through the search results. I knew that I would need 3 bedrooms and as much square feet of space as possible, so I focused on that criteria to narrow down my favorites.

And there it was - Mount Vernon Flats at The Perimeter. I read all about the community, looked at photos of the beautiful apartments and the amenities, selected my favorite from the seven floorplans, and even took a virtual tour.  The map feature made it easy to calculate exactly how far away I was from Perimeter Mall (ahem - 2.4 miles).

Be sure to use Apartments.com to help you find your new apartment!  And follow them on Twitter @aptscom to keep up with all the latest promotions.

Hey, would you like a $25 VISA gift card?  Well, I know where you can get one.

Contest:

Go to apartments.com and pick out a cool apartment that you'd choose if you were choosing.  Post the url link to that apartment in the comment section below.

Earn an additional entry by tweeting the link to @aptscom.  Be sure to include #AptWin in your tweet.

One lucky commenter/ tweeter will be randomly selected on Thursday, March 7th to win the $25 VISA gift card.

It's that easy.

So leave a comment or get your Twitter on and win a gift card!  Yay!  Good luck!

T-Shirts.com Giveaway

Do you love a great t-shirt?  One that's comfy, cute, and good quality at a great price?  Hey, me too!

So that's why I was so excited when T-shirts.com offered to send me a free t-shirt of my choice.  The only problem was deciding which one.

There were so many cute vintage tees.  And I only love 80's movies on days that end in y. Goonies never say die, y'all.
Find it here.

I thought this one was especially nice because it served two purposes: 1) It's a great St. Patrick's Day shirt 2) I'm set for being super annoying the entire night.  "Hey, I just met you... and this is crazy... but I am thirsty... so beer me maybe?"
Find it here.

Awww!  But I loved this one, too.  "Stop destroying the planet. It's where I keep all my stuff."  That's right, peeps.

Find it here

But I finally decided on this one because my husband thinks I'm H-O-T when I wear Chicago Bears stuff.  We both know that I still don't give a rip about football, but he doesn't seem to care.  And ladies, when your husband thinks you're H-O-T, laundry gets done.  It's a known fact.

Find it here

But guess what?!  T-shirts.com is hooking YOU up with a t-shirt of your choice!  All you have to do is send me an email.  That's it.  It's that simple.

Now It's Your Turn...
Send an email to me at amanda@werdyab.com with the subject line, “Tee it up!” by Monday, February 18th for your chance to win any shirt from T-Shirts.com under $30!

In the body of your email, just include the URL to the shirt of your choice. One winner will be chosen at random and emailed at that time.

Thanks for participating!

(Today’s clue is at the end of this post)

When kids curse, I step out of the car and yell, part 1

My eight- year- old daughter, Clay, dropped an "F" bomb at the dinner table and I almost choked on the lasagna. It took all of my willpower to prevent myself from exploding into a violent rage. Then, when the storm in my head passed, I did what every responsible parent would've done. First, I asked her where the first "F" bomb was dropped.

"During recess," Clay said.

"That's a very, very bad word, Clay," I said.

Second, I went to plan A:

"Children who use that word are put on Santa's naughty list."

"Santa isn't real, mommy."

"And where did you hear that?"

"TV."

Then, I set some consequences.

"Every time I hear you use that word, I'm canceling ten television channels."

From the disappointed look on her face, I figured that maybe I had triumphed. Only maybe, because Clay is just like me. We're stubborn, unpredictable, resistant to good advice, persistent in our beliefs, clever (always plotting a plan B) and we both think television has far too many channels, anyway.

Actually, I could almost see the shrug in her eyes.

"As your mom, I'm commanding you to remove that word from your vocabulary, forever."

"Okay, mommy. Don't hurt the television, please."

The beautiful thing about Clay is that, as stubborn as she is, she listens to me. I must've done something right.

"And Santa Claus is real," I said, closing the "F" bomb conversation.

The next day, as I picked Clay up from school, I overheard another "F" bomb being dropped in the distance. I knew I wasn't hearing things, because Clay and I made eye contact (the kind of eye contact exchanged between two people and one strange odor in an elevator).

"Not me," she said immediately, defensively.

I hopped out of the car and squinted at a congregation of older kids standing outside the bus stop.

"Who said that?" I cried out in my angry voice. They looked back and laughed. A few parents stared at me. I realized how pathetic and strange I looked standing on the sidewalk looking for a perpetrator no one else acknowledged.

Is this what the world has come to? Ladies and gentleman, has our society been soaked with so many cuss words and graphic images that it has become normal to hear kids dropping "F" bombs? Not in my world. I, for one, will not stand by and have our kids' virtues soiled.

"Mom," Clay whispered from the passenger seat window. "You're embarrassing me."

I stepped into the car with a dense cloud of silence. We drove home with that silence in the car. During dinner, Clay looked up from the asparagus on her plate.

"What other words shouldn't I say?" she asked.

I blinked, at a total loss for words. In this case, a total loss for cuss words.

(To be continued...)

Yes, this is a cliffhanger, people! Don't we all need a little suspense in our lives? What would you guys do in my shoes (size 8 1/2)? Leave a comment and don't forget read part 2 on obviously-marvelous.com! Here’s today’s clue:

Wednesday’s clue: “Life”

Victoria Justice Concert Tickets Giveaway

Do your kids own your television?

And I don't mean it like 'they saved their allowance to purchase the television'.  I mean it like 'you never ever get to watch anything that you want to watch, ever.'

Well, if you just said yes, then have a seat, honey!  You're in good company.

I haven't gotten to choose the channel since the hanging chad incident during the Bush/Gore election.  So now, when the conversation turns to television, I suddenly feel like Paris Hilton trying to talk shop with a couple of biochemical engineers.  Huh?  What?  Who?

When you have little kids, watching their television shows is nothing short of torturous.  One word: Elmo.

When Bailey was going through her Elmo stage, I started involuntarily referring to myself in the third person.  Mommy loves you.  Mommy doesn't think that's very nice.  Mommy needs HER bottle now.

But then something changed.  Bailey grew up, and so did her taste in television.

Barney was replaced with Drake & Josh.  The Wiggles were replaced with Hannah Montana.  And Dora was replaced with iCarly.  BIG IMPROVEMENT.

And these shows started to grow on me.  I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I've said, "Have you seen the new High School Musical movie?  It's awesome!  That Fabulous song is fabulous!"

Hey, we make the best of what we're given.

One of Bailey's favorite actresses is Victoria Justice, star of the Nick Jr. hit show Victorious.

I first saw Victoria Justice on Zoey 101 several years ago.  I felt sorry for her when Jamie Lynn Spears got pregnant and Nick decided to quietly cancel the show.  Pfft.  Like we're not going to read about it in US Weekly next week!

Then I saw Victoria Justice kick some serious booty as a boxer on iCarly.  Let's just say that I wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley, if you know what I mean.

Not only is she an adorable actress, but the girl can sing, too!  In fact, she's so good, she doesn't just sing; she SANGS.

So imagine my excitement when Victoria's people gave me two tickets to her concert to give away!

Let's recap: Victoria Justice talked to some people who talked to somebody who talked to me.  That's only three degrees of separation!  You're welcome, Bailey.  Enjoy this moment, baby - this is as close to cool as your Mama's ever gonna get.

If you win the tickets, pick your show from these two remaining dates.  Your tickets will be at will-call on the day of the show.

Here's the dates and locations:

Sep 10 - Salt Lake City, UT/ Utah State Fair

Sep 14 - Allegan, MI/ Allegan County Fair

Do you know anybody who lives in Utah or Michigan?  Then HOOK.THEM.UP.

All you have to do is leave a comment on the Facebook status about this contest.

Any comment is fine: why you love Victoria Justice, how annoying Elmo is or just a :).  Seriously, people - it's a random drawing, so there's no points for creativity.

Oh, and it's totally fine to enter the contest for somebody else who lives near one of the shows.  If you win, just tell me what name to leave the tickets under, and voilà! - early Christmas present.  Who will be the favorite aunt then?  Huh, huh?

Contest ends on Monday, September 10th at Noon EST.  The winner will be notified directly by email and I'll post the winner on Facebook.  Good luck!

Alexander Del Rossa: Fifty Shades of Giveaway WINNER!

Congratulations to Lori DiNucci Grinnell for being the winner of "Fifty Shades of Giveaway" sponsored by Alexander Del Rossa and McMakin Designs!

Lori, I know that you'll LOVE the $50 gift certificate from Alexander Del Rossa and the original necklace from McMakin Designs.  But as for the gently used copy of Fifty Shades of Grey?  Well, I sincerely hope that your feelings are 100% opposite of mine.  But if not and you hate it, too... just focus on the really awesome pjs and necklace, okay?

In related news, do you know how many people entered the Fifty Shades of Grey-inspired contest?  69.  Ahem.  The 13-year-old boy in me thinks that is HILARIOUS.

Thank you to EVERYBODY who entered!  And congratulations, Lori!

Alexander Del Rossa: Fifty Shades of Giveaway!

This post is sponsored by: Alexander Del Rossa.  Check them out online, on Facebook and on Pinterest.

As you might have read here, I didn't care for the book Fifty Shades of Grey.

My negative review irritated many Fifty Shades supporters.  People were stopping me everywhere to shake their heads in disbelief and give me a finger snap in a Z-formation.

Although my *eye roll* probably made it look like I wasn't listening to your counter-argument, I was.  And I must commend you!  You almost convinced me to read the rest of the trilogy.  Almost.  But unfortunately, I had some really important stuff to do like organizing my sock drawer and dusting off my set of Encyclopedia Britannicas from 1983.

Yes I know I had the wrong attitude when I expected actual good writing.  And yes I know the next two books are better.  And yes I know I completely missed the beautiful love story that was crammed between the sex toys and the butt smacks.

Can't we just agree to disagree?  You call this book "Fifty Shades of Grey" and I'll call it "Three hours of my life that I'll never get back."

But, listen.  That's all water under the bridge now!

I'm extending the olive branch with this FIFTY SHADES OF GREY GIVEAWAY sponsored by ALEXANDER DEL ROSSA!

Alexander Del Rossa is giving you a $50 GIFT CERTIFICATE to spend on anything on their website.

You can get hooked up with some Fifty Shades inspired lingerie (hubba, hubba) just in time for Father's Day (you're welcome, fellas).  Or you can get a terrycloth robe instead.  There's no judgement here.

I'm also giving you a Fifty Shades inspired ORIGINAL NECKLACE from McMakin Designs.

You should check out McMakin Designs' Etsy Store and Facebook page now.  Why?  Because this stuff is awesome!  (P.S. If you don't want this particular necklace, you can apply the value toward any McMakin Designs product.)

And, I'm throwing in my copy of Fifty Shades of Grey because Lord knows that I won't be using it for anything.

The contest rules are simple:

1) Leave a comment under the Fifty Shades of Giveaway photo on Facebook here.  That's it!  For example, you could comment on your favorite Alexander Del Rossa pjs or your favorite McMakin Designs necklace.  You could tell me why Fifty Shades of Grey is the greatest book ever.  Or, you could just leave a :).  Seriously.  It's a random drawing, folks, so there's no points for creativity.

2) You DO NOT have to "like" Werdyab Blog on Facebook  in order to win this contest. But it would be awfully nice if you did.  Ahem.

3) The winner will be randomly selected on Friday, June 15th at 4 pm EST.

4) No purchase necessary.  Void where prohibited.  Other legal mumbo-jumbo.

Questions?  Leave a comment below or shoot me an email.   Good luck!

L'Bel Cosmetics and Skin Care Giveaway

My friend Katie MacAvoy is a sales representative for an international skin care and cosmetic company called L'Bel.

So my first thought was, 'Awesome!  I love French stuff!  You know - like french fries and french toast.  Oh, and I even speak a little French like "chocolate fondue", "chocolate elcairs" and "that movie that Johnny Depp was in".'

I know, I know.  You don't have to say it.  You're impressed.

So I decided to do a little research on this international company and I learned that it originated in Peru.  And they don't even speak French there!  They speak Peruvian.

Okay, I'M KIDDING.  Please call off the dogs!  They speak Brazilian-Portugeuse.

(And yes, I had to look it up.)

Are you as confused as I am?

And because this blog cares about REAL JOURNALISM (Oh my gosh, I can't even type that with a straight face), I asked Katie about it.  She said that although the cosmetics were developed by the parent company in Peru, the fragrances and skin care were developed in France.  And that's what sets L'Bel apart from other direct market skin care companies.  It's like Lancome delivered to your front door.

Here's a review of four L'Bel products that Katie let me try.

Regression Jour Day Cream.  It said on the label that this product was developed for women over the age of 30,  SO WHY DID SHE GIVE IT TO ME?  Pfft.  Because I've been 29 for YEARS NOW.

This product was great to use after cleansing and toning to add extra moisture and scare off early wrinkles.  I immediately noticed improvement in my skin.  The SPF 15 also protected me from those nasty UVA and UVB rays.  And let's face it - when you act as immature as I do, you need to look as young as possible.

Delicious Lip Gloss Plump in Vin.  Katie said that this was her favorite product, but, uh, have you seen my lips?  Okay, stupid question.  OF COURSE YOU'VE SEEN THEM.  They take up one-third of my face.

Let's jump in Doc Brown's DeLorean and take a little trip to 1987, shall we?  Middle School.  Big Hair.  Debbie Gibson.  Ocean Pacific.  And one turd-bucket who decided to stand up in front of the class and shout, "Hey, everybody!  How do you babysit Amanda?.... Lick her lips and stick her to the wall!"

Do you hear that whistling sound?  It's the sound of my 12-year-old self-esteem plummeting faster and faster with each chuckle.

Suddenly making fun of my lips became hilarious - better than anything on the Cosby Show, Roseanne, and Family Ties.

But don't worry.  I think most of the emotional scars have healed.  Or at least my shrink says so.

Anyway, before we go back to Werdyab Blog, let's make a quick stop by 2010, shall we?  There I am in Wallgreen's.  Do you see me?  I'm running late for a party and I desperately need some new lip gloss, but I accidentally bought the lip plumping kind.  I figured this out when my lips felt like they were on FIRE.  I'm talking second degree burns here.

So I was a little hesitant about trying this product, but it was amazing!  There wasn't any weird tingle, and my lips looked soft, moisturized and extra plump.  Lip gloss that makes you feel sexy?  Totally worth your $12 investment.

Couleur Lux Infinite Cils XP Mascara in Black.  According to a scientific study that I completely made up for the purposes of this blog, I only wear mascara and lip gloss 95.6% of the time I say that "I'm wearing makeup".   So I'm always on the hunt for a good mascara.  This one lengthened my lashes and accented my eyes without a bunch of gloopy mess.  And, it added a natural-looking curl.  Nice.

Eau du Soleil.  I'm not really a perfume person because most of them give me a headache, but this one didn't.  It smelled fresh and warm and vibrant.  I put this on and suddenly I smelled like MAKING THINGS HAPPEN, Y'ALL.  I'll wear this perfume when my closets need organizing because this is the type of "liquid encouragement" that nobody judges you for pulling out of the cabinet at 9 o'clock in the morning.

Katie is giving one lucky Werdyab reader a basket full of awesome L'Bel goodies this month!

To enter, just place an online order of $30 or more here.  To make sure that she knows you're from Werdyab, please enter 472 as the "Party ID" during checkout.  Why?  Because this blog IS a party!  Duh.  Katie will randomly select a winner on April 30th.  Good luck!

And if you're in the Atlanta area, you can also contact Katie about hosting a Sip 'n' Shop.  Hostesses get tons of free stuff and there's wine.  Need I say more?

St. Patrick's Day Contest: You (SHAM)ROCK!

Are you feeling lucky?  Do you want to make your friends green with envy?  Are you in the Atlanta area and looking for a shamrockin' good time on St. Patrick's Day?

Well, then you've come to the right place.  And what a coincidence!  I always think "Werdyab" when I think "St. Patrick's Day", too!

Atlantic Station gave me 4 TICKETS to SHAMROCK THE STATION this Saturday, March 17th.  And I'm giving them to YOU.  Well, one of you.

I'm new to the contest business, so I tried to think of something thematic...

Like, post your favorite St. Patrick's Day pick-up line.

Or maybe a photo caption contest?

Catching me should be easy.  Too bad you won't find any gold in this pot.

Then I thought that I should ask you to promote my blog by sharing a post or liking Werdyab Blog on Facebook.  Uhmmm....LAME!

(Besides, I'm already doing that.)

So I decided to keep it simple.  I posted a status about this contest on my personal Facebook page as well as the Werdyab Blog Facebook page.  My Mom and sisters also posted a contest status.  All you have to do is LIKE one status and you are entered to WIN ALL 4 TICKETS!  That's it.  Just like the status.  How easy is that?

Atlantic Station sure knows how to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!  You do not want to miss this fun, family event!

The family festivities begin at noon with Irish dancing, games, face painting, balloon art, bagpipers and a live performance by the kid's group Rock U Music Matters.  There will also be a kid-sized tennis court for kids to play a round with a leprechaun (hopefully not the one pictured above).  Oh, and KIDS UNDER 12 ARE FREE ALL DAY.  Won't Dave Ramsey be so proud?

For the kids old enough to drink green beer, the band Better Than Ezra will be headlining the evening events with a concert beginning at 8 pm followed by green fireworks.

For more details, click here:  A Day with the Family at Shamrock the Station

HEY.  Did I ever tell you about the time that I went to Savannah for St. Patrick's Day when I was in college?  No?  Good.  Let's keep it that way.

Remember to go to Werdyab Blog on Facebook and click LIKE on the contest status to enter to WIN!  A winner will be randomly selected on Thursday, March 15th at 5pm.

May tha luck of tha Irish be with ya, lassie.

March Contest: "I'm giving away Brian's money!"

Shhhh.  Don't tell Brian, okay?  It will be our little secret.

Welcome to my first contest!

Bloggers always trick you into doing free advertising for their website by giving away a gift card.  AND WHY SHOULD I BE ANY DIFFERENT?

So here's all you have to do: Give Werdyab Blog a shout out on Facebook.  Twitter is fine, too.  Or Linked-In.  Or you can pin me.  Or, if you are employed by Google, then Google + is also acceptable.

You can share the website (that's spelled w-e-r-d-y-a-b, by the way.), a favorite post or video, or you can mention werdyab in a status update, as in, "OH.EM.GEE. Does that chick from Werdyab Blog ever quit talking about shoes and donuts?"

And, you get a bonus entry if you incorporate one of the Werdyab definitions listed on blog home page.  Why?  Because grammar is fun and should be rewarded.

So get out there and spread the WERD(yab).  Just be sure to tag me, Werdyab Blog or email me so that I know you've posted something.  I want to make sure that everyone is counted!

Rules and Restrictions:  Contest ends March 31st, so don't email me on April 1st and say that you just posted something because then the joke will be on you (Get it?  Joke?  April Fool's Day?).  I will draw the winner's name out of a dastardly dreadful hat because who doesn't love a dastardly dreadful hat?  Hey... Is "dastardly" a real word?  Anyway, you can totally be related to me and win, but please don't let my family be the only ones who enter.  That's just pitiful and will make me eat Girl Scout cookies by the sleeve.  I don't speak legalese, so please pretend that I said some official, important-sounding crap right here.   Oh, and thanks for playing. This is going to be fun! (for everybody except Brian)
