Mother's Day

Did you have a good Mother's Day?  Yay!  I did, too.

My husband asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day.  Some wives might have used this opportunity to ask for expensive jewelry or designer clothes, but not me.  My list was simple.

1) I want to pee ALL BY MYSELF at least once on Mother's Day.
2) I don't want to cook.
3) I don't want to do laundry.
4) I want to watch a one-hour television show of my choice. (And my choice is not Dora.)
5) I want to win the Hunger Games.

Okay. So four out of five ain't bad.

My day started off with a wonderful pancake breakfast.  Look how freakin' sweet this was!  They even spelled it right and everything.

"Mom" is "wow" upside down.  A "flower" is still a "flower", though.

Then I got gifts, too.

Uh....wait.  This doesn't negate me getting to pee by myself today does it?  No?  Phew!  Good.  BRING ON THE GIFTS.

My husband gave me Fifty Shades of Grey and a personal massager.  Ahem.

OH MY GOSH.  Seriously?  This is too easy! (Pun intended.)  Obviously, the jokes were FLYING at my house on Mother's Day morning.  All which had to be said in code so the kids wouldn't understand them.

You know there's going to be a day when my children are grown, and they think back on these conversations and say, "Huh?  Oh.  Ewwwwww!"

Bless their hearts.

Brian also gave me an official Werdyab coffee mug.  Do you know what this means?  I ACTUALLY SOLD ONE.  You don't know the damage that I'm gonna do with that $2.01 commission!

My children gave me some priceless one-of-a-kind pieces of art - along with a card about shoes.  THEY GET ME.

There are two very special reasons that I get to celebrate Mother's Day: Bailey and Drew.  And they are the  same two reasons that I get to say, "Listen.  I brought you into this world and I can take you out!"  It's the little things, y'all.

These are people who call me Mom.

Even when Drew gets me kicked out of Starbucks or Bailey wants to (*GULP*) hang out with her boyfriend, I still love every minute of it.  Because the ups and downs are what make up this hot mess that is my perfect life.

I wouldn't trade one minute with them for all the expensive jewelry and designer clothes in the world.  Being their mother is the greatest honor of my life.

  2. I think the hubs got his holidays confused. I believe that gift was supposed to come about a week before your anniversary. And if your hubs is anything like mine, then you're definitely in trouble for posting that part on your blog. :-)

  3. The day really kicked in nicely for you. And here I thought you were able to actually have a milder version of the hunger games for fun, I was actually jumpy when I read about your fifth wish. I also laughed at how you kidded about the spelling for the pancakes. You really had it great for your mother's day with the help of your little angels.

    1. Truth be told, I don't know crap about the Hunger Games (haven't read the book or watched the movie), so a simple listing was about as far as I could take that joke. :) I had a great Mother's Day. I am very blessed. Thank you for your comment! :)

  5. Just found your blog today (I think through Pinterest). Glad that you had a wonderful mother's day! I asked for a lot of the same things as you: to sleep late, be taken to lunch, to not cook or clean and for a spa pedicure. Everything was going well until I told the kids they were only getting PB&J for dinner and they wanted mac 'n cheese. So I reminded them of the no cooking rule for the day. And I am still waiting on the gift card for the pedicure... maybe they are giving me payback for the PB&Js.
